Phil Peacock, Senior Pastor (phil@broadusmbc.org)
Phil came to Broadus in 1998 after nine years as a pastor in Greene County, Virginia. He grew up in South Korea where his parents were missionaries. After graduating high school overseas, he returned to the States and earned degrees at Mississippi College and Southeastern Baptist Seminary. Phil's wife, Amber, teaches the BYKOTA Sunday School Class. They have three children. Phil enjoys carpentry, gardening and fishing.
Jimmy Sanford, Youth Minister (jimmy@broadusmbc.org)
Jimmy came to our staff in March 2006 straight from Southwestern Baptist Seminary. He is originally from Mississippi. Jimmy's primary work is with our growing youth group, but he is also helping to plan our future recreation ministries. His wife, Angela, also a Southwestern graduate, stays busy in the youth ministry, but her day job is at the International Mission Board.
Karen Searson, Children Minister (karen@broadusmbc.org)
Karen joined the Broadus staff in July 2008. She is a native Virginian and a VCU Business major with many years of business management & administration experience. She is eagerly beginning a new career in ministry to children and their parents and recently completed the Children’s Ministry Certification Program sponsored by the Virginia Baptist Mission Board. Karen’s husband, Thomas, is a Regional Sales Manager for Mod-U-Kraf Homes and they live on the James River in Varina with their two teenagers.
Garry Bone, Minister of Education/Senior Adults (garry@broadusmbc.org)
Garry began serving on the Broadus staff in January 2009. He and his wife, Joye, are native Texans. They moved to Virginia in the fall of 2006 to be near their daughter and her family. Garry has served as Minister of Education for the past 28 years and is deeply committed to the ministry of education in connecting people to the church family for spiritual growth and service. He has been involved in Senior Adult ministry for the past 11+ years and sees our Seniors as the ‘now’ in ministry. Besides their daughter and her family who live in Mechanicsville, they have a son and daughter-in-law serving in ministry in the greater Louisville, KY area.
Carol Golden, Minister of Music (carol@broadusmbc.org)
Carol was a member of Broadus for about seven years before she came on staff. She accepted an interim position in November of 2003 but is now in it for the long haul. She has previously served as part-time music minister in several churches. Carol is a member of the Bethesda Sunday School Class, which her husband, Stan teaches. They have three children.
Joe Holland, Pastor Emeritus
In 1997, Joe retired as senior pastor of Broadus after 24 years of service. Since then, he and Meda Rae have remained active members, though Joe has enjoyed some interim pastoring and supply preaching in neighboring churches. He continues to teach the Formations Sunday School Class. Joe and Meda Rae have four children and eleven grandchildren. Much of their family is still in our church.
Gladys Seymour, Office Manager (office@broadusmbc.org)
Gladys joined our staff back in February 2003. She coordinates the smooth running of the office on Mondays and Wednesdays, sharing the position with Dare. Gladys is a member of The Church of the Redeemer. She has three children and two grandchildren.
Dare Wright, Office Manager (office@broadusmbc.org)
Dare has been a member of Broadus since 1953. She retired from being the full-time office manager in 2000 after 14 years service, only to be brought back on board in July of 2002. She now shares the position with Gladys. Dare is a member of the Vota Vita Sunday School Class. Her daughter, son-in-law and grand-daughter are also active at Broadus.
Ellis Dunton, Organist
Ellis has been playing music at Broadus since 1981. She is also part of the worship planning team. Besides her work with our many choirs and praise team, she teaches private music lessons and is an accompanist and piano teacher at St. Catherine's School. Ellis is married to Carl Monfalcone.
Tim Jones, Custodian
Tim has been part of our staff team since 1982. He is more than just our custodian. He is also a talented musician who frequently plays with our Praise Band and has taught private guitar lessons to church and community children for many years. He has five children.
