The Missed Opportunity to Serve
One of the most frequently missed opportunities is service—acts of helpfulness and kindness — to others.  Therefore, Jesus constantly taught and exemplified what it means to live as a servant.
  • God takes our service to others seriously.
  • God takes our service to others personally.
  • God takes our service to others and uses it as an invitation into the Kingdom of God.
“People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”

    The Missed Opportunity to Welcome
Jesus knew what it felt like to be unwelcomed.  John 1:10-11 During his ministry, Jesus made a priority of welcoming everyone—but particularly . . .
    •  Those Considered Unimportant.  Mark 9:36-37, 42 & Mark 10:13-16
    •  Those Considered Unworthy.  Mark 9:9-13 & Luke 19:1-10
    •  Those Considered Inconvenient.  Luke 8:43-48
Welcoming a person in the name of Christ means letting them know you value a relationship with them, and that they are worthy of your time, attention, compassion, and acceptance as a child of God. This week, don’t miss your opportunity to welcome someone!

    Why We Miss Divine Opportunities
“If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.”   James 4:17  A prime example of a sin of omission—missing a divine opportunity — is when the Israelites reached the Promised Land.  (Num. 13-14)
    • Opportunities are frequently disguised as problems.
    • Opportunities often come with opposition.
    • Opportunities are often time sensitive.
    •  Opportunities are missed when we ignore God’s “markers.”
