Sermon Notes

Matthew 16:26

In both Greek and English, the word “soul” often refers simply to a living person.  But at other times, it is used to differentiate between that which is physical and that which is spiritual, the inner essence of a person.  Some have said it is the soul which is created in the image of God, and allows a person to know their Creator.

Though the physical body is important, Jesus helps us understand that our spiritual health is far more valuable.  The things of this world pale in comparison to the things of heaven.

  • The things of this world don’t provide true happiness or fulfillment.
  • The things of this world are just temporary.

Your soul was designed for a loving relationship with the Heavenly Father through His Son Jesus Christ.  It’s a blessing that lasts for eternity.  Therefore, why not invest yourself fully in the things of the Lord?
