“This day is holy to our Lord.  Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!”  Nehemiah 8:10b

 After leading the people of Judah to complete the rebuilding of Jerusalem’s walls and gates in just 52 days, Nehemiah realized how important it was to celebrate what they had accomplished through God’s strength and guidance.  Joyful celebration is considered by some to be a Spiritual Discipline.  God commands His people to be joyful and to celebrate!

Truths to Enhance the Discipline of Celebration:

• True joy is grounded in true faith.
• Joy is actually compatible with pain.
• Learn to celebrate big things and little things.
• Celebration is best practiced in community.
• Don’t feel guilty about enjoying the life God has given you.
