    Gideon: God Calls Unlikely Heroes
    Series: (All)
We find the story of Gideon in the Old Testament book of Judges, which follows the conquest and settling of the Promised Land by the tribes of Israel.  During the period of the Judges, a familiar cycle is often repeated.
    • The Israelites would turn away from the Lord and do evil in His sight.
    • God would allow His people to be oppressed by neighboring tribes.
    • In their suffering, the Israelites would cry out to the Lord for help.
    • God would raise up a leader (judge) to deliver them from oppression.
Gideon was a man from the tribe of Manasseh whom the Lord chose to deliver His people from the Midianites.
    • God calls us to an honest assessment of the challenges we face. (v.8-10)
    • God calls us based not on who we are, but on who we can be. (v. 12)
    • God calls us to depend upon His strength, not our own. (v.14-16)
    • God calls us to be faithful in small things before giving bigger assignments. (v.25-26)

    Series: (All)
Isaiah 6:1-8 When the throne of Judah became empty after Uzziah’s 40-year reign, the prophet Isaiah was reminded that the throne of heaven is never empty.  He was given a glimpse of the throne room of heaven. Through the heavenly vision, Isaiah was given a clearer understanding of the Lord God Almighty. (6:1-4) Isaiah also gained a clearer understanding of himself. (6:5-7) Finally, through the work of God in his life, Isaiah was able to present himself to God for service. (6:8)

    Belonging Fully to God
    Series: (All)

    Psalm 24 - A psalm of David.

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,     the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas     and established it on the waters.

Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?     Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,     who does not trust in an idol     or swear by a false god.

They will receive blessing from the Lord     and vindication from God their Savior. Such is the generation of those who seek him,     who seek your face, God of Jacob.

Lift up your heads, you gates;     be lifted up, you ancient doors,     that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory?     The Lord strong and mighty,     the Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, you gates;     lift them up, you ancient doors,     that the King of glory may come in. 10 Who is he, this King of glory?     The Lord Almighty—     he is the King of glory.
