Matthew 17:1-9

The Transfiguration of Jesus took place one week after Peter’s confession of faith at Caesarea Philippi.  Three of the disciples accompanied Jesus up to a mountain top where they witnessed him shining like the sun and talking with the Old Testament heroes, Moses and Elijah.  The unique experience helped the disciples—and us—understand who Jesus truly is.

• It clarifies his unique mission.
• It attests to his absolute authority.
